I have been teaching yoga since 1999. Initially trained in South India at the Neyyar Dam Sivananda Ashram my teaching has evolved over the years into my own flowing style inspired by many great teachers and students from a wealth of disciplines and physical abilities. Once a professional dancer, I love how yoga makes me feel, it can rapidly take me from an agitated state of stress and anxiety to my own calm and balanced centre. I love sharing this with others. Now a qualified Bowen Technique therapist, I offer these treatments locally.
My yoga practice began when working in a pressurised office environment. Teaching the physical angle was a natural progression from my career as a dancer. For me performing had missed the focus on inner balance and subtle energy that I now experience through yoga. My teaching style is accessible to beginners and those with more experience, I like to think that if you chose to, you could follow my guidance with your eyes closed. I aim to explain clearly what the body is to do. Through body awareness, focusing the mind on physical sensations, the breath and our own natural rhythm we find union – yoga of the body and mind.
I also enjoy the privilege of teaching antenatal and postnatal yoga after training with Birthlight and Sitaram.
Lizzy practices Hatha yoga. Her style is clear and accessible offering challenges and gentle relaxation for a range of abilities and experience. The flow from one exercise or posture to the next is integral to every class.
